Collaboration For The Establishment Of Sabah's First Bio-Organic Fertilizer Manufacturing Plant In POIC Lahad Datu

Kuala Lumpur, October 10th 2011 − All Cosmos Industries Sdn Bhd (ACI), a company with a BioNexus status granted by the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation Sdn Bhd (BiotechCorp), today enters into a joint venture strategic partnership with Sabah Softwoods Berhad (SSB), to establish the first Bio-organic fertilizer manufacturing plant in Sabah.

The collaboration will see the establishment of Sabah Softwoods Hybrid Fertiliser Sdn Bhd (SSHF) which will be operating in POIC Lahad Datu with a total investment of RM50 million. SSHF will focus on manufacturing, marketing and trading of bio-organic fertilizers for the growing market demand in Sabah, Sarawak and Indonesia.

The Exchange of Agreement (EOA) were formalized by the CEO of ACI Dato' Tony Peng Shih Hao, and the CEO of SSB Encik Mohd Hattah Jaafar who was representing the Chairman of SSB YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred M. Bumburing. The Exchange of Agreements were witnessed by YB. Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Dato' Dr. Nazlee Kamal, CEO of BiotechCorp.

"The bio-organic fertilizer plant, which will span over an area of 14 acres in Lahad Datu, Sabah, is scheduled to start its construction by later this year, with expectations for completion by 12 months following the commencement. The plant is capable of yielding 150 000 − 180 000 metric ton of bio-organic fertilizers per year with an estimated revenue of RM 200 million annually," said Dato' Tony Peng Shih Hao, CEO of ACI.

ACI will be supplying the biotechnology and production expertise, distribution network and channel as well as access to cost effective raw materials, whilst Sabah Softwoods is to take the lead in R&D trials in Oil Palm estates, as well as providing biomass from oil palm milling and its wood chip production activities.
