Corporate Information

Sabah Softwoods Berhad (SSB) was incorporated in 1973 and commenced operations the subsequent year. SSB was originally held by Yayasan Sabah (now Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd – ICSB) and North Borneo Timbers Bhd (NBT) in the proportion of 60% and 40% respectively. In 1997, ICSB acquired the shares held by NBT and SSB became a wholly owned subsidiary for a short span until SSB acquired Tawau Plywood Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (TPMSB). The acquisition of TPMSB involved issuance of new SSB shares and consequently ICSB′s shareholdings were diluted to 70% whilst the remaining 30% are held by vendors of TPMSB.

In 2002, SSB entered into a Joint Venture for the construction and operation of a Crude Palm Oil (CPO) mill with equity participation of 40% (become in 51% in 2014) in Regional Harvest Sdn Bhd. In 2004, SSB was offered a 30% stake to participate in another Joint Venture namely K.M. Hybrid Plantation Sdn Bhd to develop 1000 hectares for planting of Acacia mangium hybrid trees.

In 2010, we launched Sabah’s first bio-fertiliser plant, Sabah Softwoods Hybrid Fertilizer (SSHF), in partnership with All Cosmos Bio-Tech with equity participation of 45%. With an annual production capacity of 200,000 metric tons, SSHF enhances soil fertility, reduces reliance on chemical fertilizers, and supports sustainable agricultural practices across the region.

Brumas Nature Trek & Adventure Sdn Bhd (B’Nature), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sabah Softwoods Berhad (SSB), established on 1st January 2026 to spearhead SSB’s eco-tourism initiatives and promote sustainable nature-based tourism within the Brumas landscape. B’Nature offers visitors an immersive experience within one of Sabah’s unique agroforestry landscapes, featuring modern commercial tree plantations, conservation forests, wildlife habitats, and diverse ecosystems. Home to iconic wildlife including the Bornean pygmy elephant, the destination combines forest conservation, education, and responsible tourism while showcasing Sabah Softwoods Berhad’s long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability.
